Toronto rapper DijahSB’s latest single, “How R U,” flips the script on their confident style. Over muted guitar and drum shuffles, they turn the spotlight on themself, examining their own anxiety and the performance behind an act as simple as leaving the house. “Tell you I’m fine, but my eyes tell you the truth,” they sigh on the hook. Though they still have some of their usual swagger (“So good hating on me is awkward”), their relaxed delivery feels different when they’re talking about fighting music industry bullshit and being lost in the clouds. DijahSB’s honest and nonchalant raps cut through the doldrums like sunlight through a fog.
