DJ Khaled Thought He’d Have To Fight Fat Joe Over $25K Sneakers – VIBE.com

In a new episode of Sneaker Shopping with Complex, DJ Khaled dished about his vast sneaker collection and a time when Fat Joe got a tad aggressive with him over a pair of rare “worn” Air Jordans.

After speaking about opening his own sneaker store in Miami, which was a dream of his since working in Champs and putting mixtapes in the sneakers, he shared a time that his brethren in rap demanded a pair of his $25,000 kicks.

“I don’t know what was in him that day, it actually scared me,” Khaled recalled the situation. “So one day he was at my house, but I’ve never seen him go in my sneaker room with like good aggression. It was like a mission.”

Speaking of having four pairs of the “Black Chrome” Eminem x Carthartt Air Jordan 4 Retro kicks, he added, “He was like ‘Yo give me the worn ones’… I looked at him like, ‘are you crazy?’ I was like running… grabbing… I thought I was gonna have to fight him. And this is my family, I’m not doing that. I’m just telling you, I thought.”

“Major key…everything you think, doesn’t mean you have to react. I had to stop myself, I’m not fighting Joey Crack,” he said.

Earlier in the episode, the We The Best boss spoke on giving back to the community with his own store.

“When I opened this store, it took me five years to open…and I collaborated with Snipes,” he said. “This store is for the community, for the city, for the beach, for everyone that flies in out of town to witness Miami greatness. it’s about giving.”

Khaled also teamed up with Airbnb for a limited-time last November, offering a replica of his sneaker closet for guests to stay in.

The God Did creator offered an overnight stay for two in a transfigured version of his massive sneaker closet in Miami.

Not only did guests receive keys to his sneaker paradise, but also an exclusive autographed pair of Jordan 5’s from his new “We The Best” Air Jordan collaboration, a handwritten welcome note from DJ Khaled upon arrival, and suggestions for the ultimate 305 experience.
