Stars Show Up For Black Eminence

TheĀ 9th Annual Black Music Honors was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA on Saturday (May 18) where guests basked in Black distinction.

The annual event ā€” which celebrated the illustrious achievements and contributions of Black music icons ā€” honored Johnny Gill, Patrice Rushen, Bootsy Collins, Hezekiah Walker and MC Lyte.

Performers for the evening included: BLK ODYSSY, ChantĆ© Moore, Donald Lawrence, Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, Ricky Dillard, MonoNeon, Shanice, The ChiĀ (Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister & Syleena Johnson) andĀ Tone Stith.

ā€œFor the past 9 years, Black Music Honors has surrounded and supported the amazing artists who have entertained millions. This yearā€™s celebrants are trailblazers and deserve to be honored,ā€ stated Founder and Executive Producer, Don Jackson. ā€œWe are extremely proud to bring more visibility to these tremendous icons who have stayed the course from humble beginnings to careers that span decades. Their lives and stories are part of the beautiful tapestry of black musicā€¦which has impacted the globe.ā€

In addition to the honorees, a slew of famous faces attended the event, including Ceelo Green, Marsha Ambrosius, Chrisette Michele, Next, Mr. Talkbox, J. Brown, After 7, Jekalyn Carr, Mali Music, Ruben Studdard, Kim Burrell, David & Tamela Mann and more.

The LeToya Luckett and DeRay Davis co-hosted ceremony was pre-recorded, but will premiere on the Stellar Network Saturday, June 1, at 8 PM ET, while continuing to air during Black Music Month.
